About the role
Our client is an AI scale-up for e-commerce. Behind every online store sit thousands of small decisions: how should this product be categorised, which attributes are missing, how should it be translated, what should it cost in another market, why does it get returned? Today people make them by hand. You build software that takes over more and more of them. Not a chatbot on a webshop, but intelligence in the infrastructure behind it.
What success looks like
- AI commerce functionality shipped faster
- More accurate output and less human correction
- Larger parts of e-commerce operations running safely and automatically
- Support for bigger catalogues, more markets and more languages
- Lower processing costs and higher reliability
- Recurring customer problems turned into reusable software
What you'll do
- Build systems that understand product images and structured product data, and classify and enrich products
- Generate titles, descriptions, SEO metadata, attributes and translations within brand guidelines
- Create separate machine-optimised titles for Google Shopping without changing what customers see on the site
- Analyse return reasons and, for example, automatically suggest size-and-fit information
- Build intelligent international pricing logic and feed optimisation
- Integrate with Shopify, PIM, feed and marketplace systems, and build APIs and data pipelines
- Set up evaluation, approval workflows, monitoring and rollback, and improve accuracy, latency and cost
What you bring
- A strong engineer: backend, APIs, databases, cloud, software architecture, testing and production systems
- Experience with or strong interest in LLM APIs, multimodal models, structured output, tool calling, retrieval, embeddings, agents and evaluation
- You know technically correct output can be commercially wrong: context, brand, channel, market and intent matter
- You pick the right tool: sometimes an LLM, sometimes rules, SQL or a human
- Security is part of your design: tenant isolation, secrets, permissions, audit trails and untrusted external data
- You go from problem to prototype, measurement, architecture and production, and don't stop at the prototype
- Experience with e-commerce platforms, feeds, PIM, Merchant Center or marketplaces is very valuable; wanting to learn commerce deeply counts just as much
What you get in return
- Real e-commerce problems, at the scale of whole catalogues
- Work with the engineering team and the founders
- Real influence on the product and the architecture
- A small team that builds fast, with an eye for what can go wrong
- A workplace in the north of the Netherlands, with flexibility where it makes sense
- A salary that fits your experience
- Support from Cruitor, also after you start
How we assess
No AI demos. We discuss something you built with AI and real data: the problem, the architecture, why you used AI and where you didn't, how you measured accuracy, the most dangerous failure modes, and what happens if it runs across a million products tomorrow.
