About the role
Our client is an AI scale-up removing recurring work from e-commerce operations: product content, translations, international pricing, return insights and product data, and soon SEO, SEA and feeds too. They are not looking for a prompt engineer or a no-code builder, but for a software engineer who uses modern AI models as components inside reliable production systems. You work alongside the lead developer.

What you'll do
- Build and maintain AI features, such as product data from images and existing data, translation workflows, feed optimisation and pricing logic
- Design reliable LLM workflows, and agentic systems where they fit
- Integrate AI models and APIs, and connect with e-commerce platforms
- Build validation, evaluation, monitoring and logging for AI output
- Design safeguards for automated actions: approval, audit trail and rollback
- Improve performance, reliability and cost
- Prototype fast, then properly engineer the ideas that matter
What you bring
- A strong software engineer: backend, APIs, databases, cloud, Git, testing and production software
- Meaningful experience with modern AI, such as LLM APIs, structured output, tool calling, retrieval, embeddings, evaluation or multimodal models
- Security is part of your design: least privilege, secrets, tenant isolation, prompt injection and audit trails
- You measure AI quality rather than saying it looks good
- You build a prototype in a day and are the first to explain why it isn't ready for production
- You ask whether something should use AI at all
- Ownership, simplicity and speed, without being reckless
